Mark D. Ledbetter joined the law firm of Gibbs, Nolte, Robison & Rose in 2011 where he practices in the areas of criminal law and consumer bankruptcy. His legal career began in 1993 when he joined the police department in his hometown of Cleburne, Texas. Mr. Ledbetter eventually joined the Plano Police Department where he spent twelve years of his legal career as a police officer. During his tenure with the Plano Police Department Mr. Ledbetter earned his master peace officer certification, his certification to operate the Intoxilyzer 5000, and became a practitioner in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. He served as a Field Training Officer and was a member of the Special Response Team.
Mr. Ledbetter's interest in the legal aspect of his work as a police officer led to his enrollment at the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. While in law school Mr. Ledbetter participated in the school moot court competition, helped represent indigent family law clients in the Texas Wesleyan Law Clinic, worked in the mediation clinic and interned at the Collin County District Attorney's Office. Soon after his licensure by the State Bar of Texas Mr. Ledbetter joined the Collin County District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor.
Mr. Ledbetter has extensive courtroom experience. As a police officer he testified in numerous trials including cases for murder, drug possession and Driving While Intoxicated offenses. As a prosecutor Mr. Ledbetter participated in over 100 motions, bench trials and jury trials. He prosecuted cases including DWI, assault and drug possession along with other criminal offenses. The DWI cases he prosecuted include refusals, breath and blood test cases and intoxication by prescription drugs. His knowledge of investigative techniques and prosecutorial procedures allow him to dissect each case to find the factual and legal issues that should be tried before a judge or jury.
In addition to his duties as a prosecutor Mr. Ledbetter has extensive experience training police officers in Collin County. He taught classes at the Plano Police Department, Allen Police Department for Fondren Forensics and the Collin County District Attorney's Office.
Mr. Ledbetter has training from the State Bar of Texas in the representation of consumer debtors and is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. He is dedicated to helping those who are looking for solutions to their debt problems.
Mr. Ledbetter realizes that navigating the court system, whether in criminal or bankruptcy cases, can be intimidating for those who are unfamiliar with the inner workings of the court. His experience working in the court system removes the uncertainty that his clients experience when facing legal difficulties. Mr. Ledbetter guides each client through every case from beginning to end and communicates with his clients every step of the way.
